While there are a number of elective options to accrue points toward becoming Bird City Maryland certified, hosting a World Migratory Bird Day Event is the only mandatory requirement. World Migratory Bird Day events may be included as part of a broader environmental awareness celebration, or may be dedicated celebrations. To receive credit for a World Migratory Bird Day event toward becoming Bird City Maryland certified, complete the following steps:

1. Register your city’s event at World Migratory Bird Day.
2. Email Bird City Maryland with your event information.
3. Optional: Complete the Register Your Intent To Apply form to begin the process of becoming Bird City Maryland certified.
